Dragon and Goddess Necklace, Sterling Silver Fantasy Jewelry with Attached Chain
A fierce dragon protects this lovely goddess as they rest from the many responsibilities that are theirs in this piece of sterling silver fantasy jewelry. Trees surround them and flowers bloom as they prepared to resume all that is required of them. This Dragon and Goddess necklace is part of the "Unveiled" collection that tells the story of a journey through a mystical land after the path as been unveiled.
The focal point of the Dragon and Goddess Fantasy Necklace as well as the circle sections and toggle were created using the lost wax casting method. Both hard and soft waxes were used with an eye for overall form, composition and detail. Notice that the Goddess is wearing a necklace and the detailing in her gown. The dragons scales were sculpted individually and applied one at a time. When sculpting was complete the wax mounted on in a flask, encased in plaster, put in a kiln for a 24 hour burnout cycle and then cast in solid sterling silver. During the finishing process the silver is oxidized (antiqued) to showcase the detail of the Renaissance necklace.
The fantasy necklace adjusts from 16 - 18 inches in length, with the central dragon and goddess element being 1 3/8 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches tall. The toggle clasp ensures both a comfortable and secure closure. The attached sterling silver chain is high quality with links that are soldered closed. The photo fails to capture how beautifully the chain drapes on this necklace.
