Unicorn Ear Cuff in Sterling Silver Fantasy Jewelry

This fantasy jewelry unicorn ear cuff is both a beautiful adornment for your ear as well as comfortable to wear. Imagine a mystical place where you can get away from the monotony of everyday life; a place where unicorn's play and morning glory flowers bloom from a vine that twists all around -- this ear cuff takes you to that magical place. Unicorns are symbolic of many things including: beauty, elegance, purity, strength, courage, and enchantment. It is also known that they are very difficult to capture and tame, can neutralize poison and their tears can heal both physical wounds as well as sorrows of the heart.

I started by creating a detailed pencil drawing to refine my idea and layout the proportion of the piece. The next step was to sculpt everything in wax, this was a very time and labor intensive process; including sculpting individual petals of the morning glories and then assembling them to make them as life like as possible. While great attention was given to such details, I also took great care to ensure the musculature was accurate and the overall design pleasing. When sculpting was complete it was cast using the lost wax method in sterling silver. A patina was applied to give some areas a darker finish than others, providing for contrast and interest. This was followed by hand polishing and an application of Renaissance Wax to protect the finish and guard against tarnish.

The Unicorn ear cuff is 1/2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches long.
